Someone’s going your way.

Farepal connects people heading the same way at the same time, so you can share one licensed taxi and split the meter fare.

Free. Coming soon to Google Play and the App Store.

See how it works

Aoife has an early flight.

She’s in Ranelagh with a seat on EI 154 on Sunday morning. Cian, a few streets away in Rathmines, is going to the airport at the same time. Here’s how they end up in the same taxi.

  1. Post a trip, or find one

Say where you’re starting, where you’re going and when. Or search the trips other people have already posted.

Posting a trip, step 4 of 4: reviewing Ranelagh to Dublin Airport on Sunday 8 November, departure window 05:30 to 06:15, flight EI 154, three seats offered.
  2. Smallest detour first

Results are sorted by how far your pickup and drop-off are from each host’s route. There’s no distance cut-off, so a trip that’s nearly on your way still shows up.

Search results for Ranelagh to Dublin Airport, smallest detour first: a Milltown to Dublin Airport trip about 4 minutes off your way, on the same flight, EI 154.
  3. Ask to join

Send a request with your own pickup and drop-off, and a note if you like. The host sees your first name, photo, reliability and area, then accepts or declines.

A trip to Dublin Airport with two seats left and about a 4 minute detour, the host’s reliability record with Report and Block, and a note that exact pickup and contact details are shared after the host accepts. A Request to join button sits at the bottom.
  4. Plan it in the trip room

Once you’re accepted, the trip room shows the pickup order on a map. Call, WhatsApp or email each other with one tap, or use the group chat.

The trip room for Rathmines to Dublin Airport: a map and the stops in order, starting with Cian on Leinster Road, then the Ranelagh Luas stop, then DCU on Collins Avenue.
  5. Reconfirm before the deadline

Everyone confirms they’re still coming before the deadline, or their seat is released. Flying in? Tap “I’ve landed” when you’re through.

The people on the trip, Cian, Aoife and Liam, each marked Reconfirmed, with call, WhatsApp and email buttons, and a note that three people are sharing this taxi.
  6. Share the taxi, split the fare

The host books a licensed taxi. You ride together and split the meter fare between you, equally unless you agree otherwise. Farepal doesn’t handle money.

The group chat for the trip. Cian asks “Split the meter three ways at the end?” and Aoife replies “Perfect, I’ll send you my share after.”
  7. Say who showed up

Afterwards, everyone answers one question about the others: did they show up? Answers build each person’s reliability record. No star ratings.

Trip feedback finished: “Thanks, that’s everyone. Your answers update each person’s reliability line.”

Farepal works for any trip in Ireland, starting in Dublin. If someone’s going your way at the same time, you can share the taxi.

People see your area, not your address.

Before a host accepts you, others see your first name, last initial, photo, reliability record and area. Your exact address, phone number and email go only to the group you’re travelling with.

Questions

Something else? Email [email protected].

Does Farepal book the taxi?

No. The host books a licensed taxi the way they normally would. Farepal only connects people going the same way.

How do we split the fare?

Between yourselves. We suggest splitting the meter fare equally, unless you agree otherwise. There are no payments or prices in the app.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Farepal is free.

Is it only for the airport?

No. Use it for any trip in Ireland: train stations, campus, the city centre, home after a night out, or the airport. We’re starting in Dublin.

How are trips matched?

Search results are sorted by the smallest detour from the host’s route, for your pickup and your drop-off. There’s no distance cut-off.

Who can see my address and phone number?

Only the people accepted onto your trip. Before that, others see your first name, last initial, photo, reliability record and area.

What if someone doesn’t show up?

Everyone reconfirms before a deadline, so plans are fresh. After the trip, each person says whether the others showed up, and that goes on their reliability record.

Can I get told when a trip is posted?

Yes. Save an alert for your route and time, and we’ll notify you when a matching trip is posted.

How do I sign in?

With Apple, Google or your email address.

Same way, same time, one taxi.
